Accommodation
Arrival will be on Monday 8th September at Halifax Hall – Endcliffe Vale Road, Sheffield, S10 3ER.
3 Course evening meals will be hosted at 7pm at Halifax Hall.
The Jonas Hotel which is on this site is where you will be staying. Check in is from 3pm on Monday 8th September and check out is at 11am on Saturday 13th September.
Your stay at the Jonas Hotel includes a hot drink and pastry each morning.
Travel to Halifax Hall / The Jonas Hotel
By train - The nearest station is Sheffield. There is a taxi rank as you exit the station or if you want to get the bus, you will need to take a 10 minute walk to Arundel Gate and catch the number 82 bus to Hunters Bar roundabout - Ecclesall Road/Neil Road. It will then be an uphill 12 minute walk to the venue.
By car - There is limited parking on-site and you can’t pre book, its first come first served. If the car park is full on your arrival, the local on street parking is only for resident permits or is time limited so would not be possible for a week. You can use Parkopedia to find the closest parking (which will be most likely about a 30 minute walk away near Crookes.)
By plane - The nearest airport is Manchester. There is a train station inside the airport. The train will take you to Manchester Picadilly where you can transfer on to the train to Sheffield. The journey from the airport to Sheffield Station takes just over 1 hour. Then follow either of the options above to reach the venue.
Lectures
During the day, lectures will take place in the city centre at the University of Sheffield – Sir Robert Hadfield Building, S1 3JD (Room LT21).
The “hands-on” practical sessions will take place over the road from the Hadfield Building in the Royce Discovery Centre, Harry Brearley Building (RDC) and about a 10-minute walk up campus in the Hicks Building (School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences). Please note that these buildings are swipe access buildings, however, you will be escorted in.
